PM Update: Bitter wind chills late tonight ahead of a cold Saturday. Wintry mess develops late Sunda

* Winter storm watch from Interstate 95 westward Sunday afternoon to Monday morning *

Temperatures in the mid- and upper 40s today were somewhat above normal. The gusty wind pretty much negated that. Gusts to around 30 or 35 mph have been common since the midday. They’ll continue into the night, as temperatures fall.

Through tonight: Colder air makes a stronger push tonight. With winds staying up, you’ll feel it if out, so grab the cold-weather gear. There should be few, if any, clouds. Lows will mainly be in the upper teens and low 20s. Wind chills will run about 10 degrees below the air temperature.

Tomorrow (Saturday): It will be one of those days that looks nice but doesn’t feel it. Sunshine will be near wall-to-wall; it just won’t do much. We should end up with another day of below-freezing readings. High temperatures will be in the upper 20s or near 30. Winds will be out of the north around 10 mph.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday): A couple snow or rain showers may last into the morning. Otherwise, skies will be trending clearer, and it’ll probably be gusty behind the storm moving away. There could be another snow shower in the afternoon. High temperatures will be around 40.

It was okay as long as the sun was out, but once the sun got low, that wind reminded me that this was still January.

of the store until the bus came into sight. Even then, the driver was not going to stop until I stood out in the pavement. Due to a rerouting, this was not an official stop for that route. I didn't feel like waiting another half-hour. There was an alternate route I could have taken.

Shopping tip: the Giant has cut the price of spiral sliced honey baked ham from $4.39 per pound to 99 cents per pound. The problem for me was finding one small enough. Instead of $33.98, I paid $7.66. That’s 77 percent off. The price will probably hold through Thursday.

I'm done with shopping (for a few days,) went yesterday.

Had similar issue with wind, when arrived @ home; was @ s/e side of house, but still had to fight it.

I had one last errand to perform on the way home from the Giant yesterday. It didn't take long, but it was enough to push me into the "getting colder quickly" part of the day.

I'm glad I got it done. It's not any too welcoming outside this morning. It's still about 28 degrees F, about what it was at sunrise, and the wind is up.

I wonder if the library will close early tomorrow. The usual closing time for the weekend is 5:00 p.m., but the snow is supposed to start around 3:00 p.m.
