http://www.tampabay.com/news/health/house-members-say-yes-to-cheap-health-insurance-8212-for-themselves/2120758Florida House Republicans last month loudly and proudly rejected billions of dollars in federal money that would have provided health insurance to 1 million poor Floridians.
Quietly, they kept their own health insurance premiums staggeringly low. House members will pay just $8.34 a month for state-subsidized health care next year, or $30 a month to cover their entire family.

What a bunch of hypocrites!

I hope the people of Florida make a stink so bad about this that the House Republicons can't ignore them. The message should be: fix this or you're out!

(35 posts)6. Which legislators use the inexpensive insurance?
Does anyone know how to determine which members of the FL legislature actually use the insurance and which one's don't? This ought to be public information. Such information could be most useful come 2014.

(9,067 posts)7. I think all the legislatures get the insurance....
I suppose they could go to the doctor and not use insurance, but if they needed a heart transplant you can bet they would...and the premiums are peanuts compared to other state employees or the private sector.
