Starting Monday April 5 anyone over the age of 18 can get vaccinated in Florida!

I can not tell you how relieved I feel. While my 92 year old dad was vaccinated first (and hubby and I just recently got our first doses) my kids are millennials and zoomers and way down at the bottom of the eligibility list. While they have been working remotely and taking classes online and living like hermits, not all of their peers have been as safe, so finally they can get their shots and their mama will sleep better at night. Only ten days to go.....

However, we got very lucky with the "no appointment FEMA site" and was able to drive up get in and out in an hour and a half. I live in Broward and drove to Dade, can you make the the trip down our way?

I am 69½ and as of yet been able to get an appointment. As they continue to expand eligibility, it once again makes the pool increase, decreasing the elderly's and the truly essential workforce's chances to get vaccinated.

A hierarchy needs to be maintained. Open the eligibility but sort by need.

An 18 year old registers to get vaccinated and is assigned #666 ... a 69½ registers and they get bumped to #666 and the 18 year old gets bumped to #667 etc. etc. so on and so forth

4. Oh no, that is just not right! Still not vaccinated at your age!

What county are you in? I know that it varies from county to county. We are in Broward and the day my hubby hit elegibility (60+) the county texted him an appointment for a few days later (he did a drive-thru at Tree Tops Park in Davie). We didn't know if we could count being so lucky twice so when they lowered the age (50+) for me I just drove straight to a "no appointment" FEMA site in Dade county where I was vaccinated that day. Are there any "no appointment" FEMA sites you can go to? It is not right that you are still trying for an appointment! I feel so bad for you.

My wife registered both of us a few weeks ago & they just called this morning & set up appointments for us both.

We're in Brevard County, availability seems to vary by region/county.

Sending good thoughts!!!

5. Yay! Getting appointments could be tough, but son and daughter both work in food industry.

They've both had mild cases but with the variants, they really need the vaccine too. My sons partner has cancer, which ups the need to be vaccinated as well. Hoping they can get in sooner rather than later!

If they can not get appointments, perhaps try a "no appointment" FEMA site if you can. My brother (also works in food industry) went to a walk up site (north Broward county) and I went to a drive up site (Miami-Dade county) and we were both fortunate to get vaccinated same day with minimal wait time.

7. We don't have any drive up vaccination sites around here, just for testing.

Everything here requires an appt., including the state run site. The state has hired a lot of appt. takers so that process is much better and now CVS, Walmart Grocery Stores & Publix are also offering vaccinations so I'm hopeful for them. Since Biden took over and took this out of Death Sentences' hands, things improved rapidly here.

It was so hard to get an appointment for so long , but as soon as CVS started having it in our city we immediately got an appointment there and just got our second shot Friday. I can't tell you how many hours I sat and waited while Publix website just kept refreshing or how many times I checked Walmart and their affiliate. If we had depended on our County's website, we would still be waiting to even be contacted. I have been wondering how things are going and if all of the people in the original 65 and over group even got their appointments yet.

At the CVS in our city, you can actually walk in and make an appointment. We did it online and later learned they have walk in sign ups. It's worth a try.

Yes, it is certainly worth a try to go for it! Between FEMA, county, state, hospitals or drugstores - you never know which one will be the lucky path.
