And boy does that make me feel better about Charlie Crist! I've been labeling Crist a Jeb toady because Crist continued the Bush doctrine when he succeeded Jeb in office. Even after Crist left the Republican Party and became an Independent, then moved over to being a Democrat I was suspicious of Crist.
Tonight I watched a Crist campaign ad in which Crist talked about being on the side of the average person. Immediately following it was Jeb Bush on the air. The cut was so quick I expected Jeb to be supporting his old follower. No - Jeb was disparaging Crist and supporting Scott. After the things Jeb said, I don't see Crist ever going back to Jeb's camp.
I'm going in to vote tomorrow and I will feel much better about my vote for Charlie Crist!

(14,177 posts)This might be a good GOTV for Democrats in Florida who may not have felt Crist really really changed parties. I think you were voting anyway so this just makes it easier amiright?

(34,131 posts)Now I might not actually hold my nose. I'd rather have a real Democrat than a DINO, but if Crist is the best we can do at the moment, he is at least better than Scott. But then Darth Vader, Sauron or Voldemort would be better than Scott!
This ad does make me feel MUCH better!

(14,177 posts)It's very difficult to feel motivated in those cases. But, I never had a problem with Crist. For two reasons, I live in Minnesota and he never seemed like a terrible person even as a Republican.

(34,131 posts)Once Crist was in office, he changed nothing from what Bush had done. At the time, he was considered a Bush protege and the GOP had big plans for him. The semi-rational people in the GOP didn't count on the rabid right wing nut and Tea Party freak out when Crist shook hands with President Obama shortly after he got into office. After that, the nutjobs here in Florida hated Crist's guts and Crist was toast as a Republican.
So I saw Crist jumping off the GOP bandwagon to independence and then to the Democratic Party as a self serving ploy to keep his political boat afloat. Through all of that Crist never disavowed his previous relationship with Jeb Bush. That has worried me a lot.
Now that Jeb has dumped any possible backing of Crist, I am more comfortable with him. There is no way he can go back to the GOP at this point. I just hope he will be a decent governor when (major crossed fingers) he gets back in. He at least understands Florida better than Scott and while he may be a politician who will dance around to get into office, he seems to be reasonably honest once he's in.

(14,177 posts)and maybe there used to be. But, in 2009 there was a definite shift. I don't remember Republicans being so rabidly insane before then. I never agreed with them on most social issues. I don't agree with them on fiscal policy either, but on the issue of being as responsible for your actions as possible, yeah that's a good one. That's the the only thing I can think that there might be an overlap now. It's really bad when they vote against health care for 9/11 first responders. There is no going back there is no longer a reason to try to reason with them.

(15,435 posts)but I haven't seen much lobe between Jebby & him. But as I said in my post below I feel "something" happened between them. I gave my input. I do know that Jebby has a lot of influence in this state, so why would he go against Crist and support Rubio??

(34,131 posts)I think that was the break point. I just had not seen it as clearly demonstrated as in the ad I saw yesterday.

(15,435 posts)I don't have a link, it was BEFORE Rubio ran for Senator but Jeb DIDN'T support Crist back then. Jeb was very instrumental in getting behind his "boy" Rubio to run AGAINST Crist. There was some sort of dust up about federal or state judges that Crist was appointing and Jebby didn't like the person OR persons and wanted Crist to roll over for him. Crist told him that he was the Governor, not Jebby and that started a rift between them. I wish I had a reference for this, but don't. I also think there was more, but something must have happened because Jebby decided on wonder boy Marco leaving Crist in the dust. Crist decided to run as an Independent and the Democrats had Kendrick Meek. Meek was never going to win he had some baggage and I voted for Crist back then. Many Dems attacked me for doing this, but now we see Crist became a Democrat.
As many here know a lot of Dems have had lots of negative feelings about Crist, but even as a past Governor he was more moderate than I expected. So his claim that the Repukes left him is probably true. I suppose he went along with Jebby for a while, but the economy was already in a down turn and Crist had to some of the usual Repuke stuff. Anyway, I'm voting for Crist, well already have and so is all of my family.
I don't know what I'll do if "The Alien" gets re-elected but he has BIG MONEY and BIG PLAYERS pulling out all the stops! It shouldn't be this close but this is Florida and apparently Scott is easy to control! Really gonna be hard to take!

Republican Gov. Rick Scott's campaign is stepping up one of its lines of attack against Democratic governor candidate Charlie Crist: attempting to link him in voters' minds with President Barack Obama.
Though Obama remains popular with some Democratic voters, the strategy behind the Republican Party of Florida's ads is clear: Lots of other voters are displeased with the Democratic president's performance.

Once Crist had actually touched President Obama, he was contaminated in the eyes of the right wing nuts and dead to Florida Republicans.

(15,435 posts)more to it. I can only get part of the link, got a notice it won't download. Whatever, there seems to be NO LOVE LOST!
Now I see CNN has been removed from my DISH Satellite! The debate WITHOUT the fan should be on. Need to find out why they removed it. Said Turner Networks removed it! Weird!

(34,131 posts)Happens every so often. It won't take long until one of them caves - probably DISH will pay more money and pass the increase along to their customers.

(15,435 posts)Just talked to them 2 wks ago and got them to lower my rates, a LOT! But was going to watch debate and it's not on C-Span either. I'm not very techy so don't have time to check Roku, iTunes and other suggestions. We bought a Smart TV not long ago, but still trying to FIGURE all of it out! I made a mistake buying it, not easy for me yet!
Guess I'll hear how it goes soon enough.
