An Orlando-based political action committee supporting Republican candidates has sent some Manatee voters a mailer in which it promises to reveal whether they and their neighbors vote in next weeks election.
The Bradenton Herald reported today that in the mailer, Citizens for a Better Florida Inc. identifies whether the recipients neighbors, by name, have voted in general elections dating back to 2010, with a promise to send a follow-up mailer after Tuesdays election identifying neighbors who did not vote.
Every year, thousands of your neighbors failed to vote, the mailer states. We think its too important. This year, we are providing the names of your neighbors and their voting record. The next time we send this mailer, we will include information on who voted in this upcoming November election.
Manatee Elections Supervisor Mike Bennett said hes received complaints about the fliers.

This little ploy seems to be pissing off even Republicans.

(15,435 posts)Nothing here. I know they're posting what they've received so far, I guess. I checked mine online. Can't remember anything like this happening before. Wonder what's up. I know Dems don't show up as much, but this sounds like Repukes to me.
Maybe Democrats there have gotten mad and are trying to make a push. Then again, some hand writing may be on the wall for Repukes and they're trying to rile them up. I'm not even sure this is legal, but then who knows? Haven't seen any updates in a couple of days. I think we ALL know Vern Buchanan will win down here. Can't get rid of him now, he's such a crook too! But vets just love him for some weird reason.

Go ahead, GOP, tell my neighbors I voted. I keep the "I voted" sticker on my cap for months and months so anyone I talk to should know I've voted. Right now there are two stickers - one for the primary and one for early voting!
I hope the GOP shames more of their voters into NOT voting!
