1. GET REGISTERED
Get registered to vote with your current name, at your current address, by 29 days
before Election Day. For the November 2012 general election, you must be registered
by October 9, 2012.
If you mail your voter registration form, it must be postmarked by October 9, 2012.

2. WHAT TO BRING
Florida requires a valid picture identification and a signature to vote. The following
photo IDs will be accepted:
Florida drivers license
Florida identification card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and
Motor Vehicles
United States passport
Debit or credit card
Military identification
Student identification
Retirement center identification
Neighborhood association identification
Public assistance identification
If your photo identification does not contain your signature, you can show a second ID
that does. For example: your student photo ID + your debit card.

3. VOTE!
Election Day is Tuesday, November 6th, 2012. Polls are open from 7 a.m.
until 7 p.m. on Election Day. Any voter who is standing in line at 7 p.m.
is still eligible to cast a vote.

Vote Early
Florida has early voting, beginning 10 days before an election and ending on the third
day before the election. Early voting sites and hours are set by the Supervisors of
Elections at least 30 days prior to Election Day.
Note: If you live in Collier, Hardee, Hendry, Hillsborough, or Monroe Counties, early
voting begins 15 days before an election and ends the Saturday or Sunday before the
election. Check with your Supervisor of Elections for the most up-to-date information.
Vote by Mail
Anyone may vote by mail in Florida. To vote by mail, your request for a ballot must be
received by the Supervisor of Elections no later than 5 p.m. on the 6th day before the
election. You can obtain a vote by mail ballot in person up to and including Election
Day. Your ballot must be received by the Supervisor of Elections no later than 7 p.m.
on Election Day.

(14,337 posts)Then clicked on their link for homepage, and got the same error message. I even clicked on the Florida Board of Elections icon, and nothing happened.
Must be a better link. I wanted to see what was required for absentee ballot, given my first experience votingin Florida last election. I don't trust them.

Otherwise, if you have the time and inclination, and find a better link, please let the folks at OFA know. Florida is such a battleground, and the deadline to register is fast-approaching.

(1,127 posts)Also renewed my driver's license, and the DMV clerk mentioned that most people check "NO" to being registered to vote. I don't understand how people could be so oblivious to their government. I think that will be an advantage for the Rmoney and Ryan team because many people have never even heard of Ryan. It is also why we have this governor. Only around 8 percent of teachers in my county even voted in the election for governor. Many seem surprised at how bad things are now.
