(34,131 posts)The one that my Dad and his brother helped plant the original trees in when they were teens in the late 1930s. I'll bet they aren't doing too good, either.
You know anybody who would want a couple of lots in Avon Park? Not orange groves. One is a lake front lot with lots of trees, another is near the nursing home in the "medical district."

It seems we don't get those tropical showers anymore but that's to be expected after the orange groves were cut down and
development took over. I've actually had a few people tell me they didn't think blacktop and concrete were hotter than tree canopies.
Another of our problems is the condos on the beaches that direct sea breeze winds up and over the city causing the rains to hit in Tampa or go around to upper Clearwater and down around Bradenton.
