Quinnipiac poll: Charlie Crist would trounce Rick Scott in 2014

TALLAHASSEE — Florida voters love Gov. Rick Scott's idea of a teacher pay raise, and they agree with him on the need to expand Medicaid. But they don't like him, and Scott would lose handily to former Gov. Charlie Crist in a hypothetical 2014 matchup for governor, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.

Crist, a recent convert to the Democratic Party who may run for governor, would defeat Scott 50 percent to 34 percent, the poll found. And 50 percent of voters support Crist's decision to switch to the Democratic Party.

The poll said Democrat Alex Sink, who narrowly lost to Scott in 2010, leads him in a potential rematch, 45 percent to 34 percent

Only 32 percent of voters say he deserves a second term in office, including 28 percent of independent voters. In addition, 36 percent of voters say he is doing a good job compared to 49 percent who say he's doing a bad job, including 26 percent of Republicans in Florida.

And he will defeat Scott in a two person general election race.

Sink was a terrible candidate last time, and there is no reason to think it would be any different this time.

A moderate Republican flying the D flag-of-convenience vs. a tea party Republican. No wonder we're sliding backwards. I put in a lot of time and effort into a similar campaign last year (Murphy vs. West) and I would really like to put a lot of effort into defeating Rick Scott- but the prospect of replacing him with another Democrat-in-name-only has me looking for better ways to spend my time and money.

appoint Dems to positions of power, thus helping build a bench? Hopefully. As governor, CC was never as far right as his party. I will vote for him if that is what it takes to reverse 20 years of GOP dominance. We must start somewhere. We will not get a true liberal anytime soon because FL is a moderate state and we HAVE NO WELL KNOWN DEMOCRATS AT ALL.....CONSERVATIVE OR LIBERAL!
