Christina Bohannon to run against Miller-Meeks in Iowa-02

https://qctimes.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/she-beat-a-20-year-incumbent-in-2020-now-this-iowa-lawmaker-has-her-sights/article_75d89a48-d3fb-59f6-9c60-fe50792f133f.html

UPDATED: She beat a 20-year incumbent in 2020, now this Iowa lawmaker has her sights on Congress

A recently elected state representative and Iowa City Democrat, who unseated a 20-year incumbent in last year's primary, now has her sights on Congress.

University of Iowa law professor and state Rep. Christina Bohannan announced Tuesday she will run for southeast Iowa's 2nd congressional district seat held by freshman Republican U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks.

Miller-Meeks, of Ottumwa, won last year's election for Iowa's open 2nd district U.S. House seat by a mere six votes, the narrowest victory margin in a House race in almost 40 years, after Wheatland Democrat Rita Hart ended her 2020 election challenge before the U.S. House in March.

"I really believe we need a government that works for the people," and not special interests, Bohannan told the Quad-City Times in an exclusive interview ahead of her official campaign announcement.

and IA-2 would greatly benefit in having her represent them.

One thing from the article blew my mind, that Miller-Meeks is a former state Public Health Director. Wut? She's been fined for refusing to wear a mask on the house floor! How does public health jibe with being a maskhole?!?!

Gordy played qb at Iowa many years ago and has had four basketball playing sons. I wonder if this woman is part of that family?

Best I can find Christina was born and raised in Florida.

The athletic Bohannons were from around DR and Dubuque I believe.

But I do not know. Could be some connection.
