The announcement came shortly after Gov. Terry Branstad sent a letter to Buck asking that officials only grant a waiver if a school district demonstrates a significant negative educational impact of beginning classes on time, as required by law.
Districts must start school no earlier than the calendar week that includes Sept. 1. But nearly all of them obtain waivers allowing them to begin classes earlier.
Branstads letter says starting earlier unnecessarily interferes with families summer plans, seasonal hiring and the Iowa State Fair.

Jesus christ - if "nearly all" school districts obtain waivers to allow them to start early, doesn't it stand to reason that the people WANT fucking school to start early? We're gonna end up having school until the end of fucking June.

There are still times I think of moving out of Iowa because of Brainfuck and Cutyernutzoff.

Personally I would love to see Iowa go to a full year school calendar with holidays, set up so kids could take a couple months off at their scheduling. I believe it could be done and would actually be much more flexible.
