Kansas Democrat Carl Brewer selects former Gardner mayor as gubernatorial running mate
Two-term Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer said during a statewide tour Tuesday that a former Gardner mayor and U.S. Navy veteran would serve as running mate in his campaign to be selected the Democratic Party’s nominee for governor.
Joining Brewer on the August primary ballot in the slot of lieutenant governor will be Chris Morrow, who was on the Gardner city council and served as mayor.
In a statement Brewer’s campaign said the pairing creates a “true-blue progressive option for Democrats and Kansas voters” in the 2018 election.
“I knew I needed to find someone who would stand up for all Kansans, someone who shared the same values and ideals as I did,” Brewer said. “With Chris, you have a person who has shown again and again that he listens to the community he serves and will put in the necessary work to get the job done.”
