Tim Tebow bill clears House, now goes to Senate for consideration

FRANKFORT, Ky. - Home-schooled students would be eligible to participate in extra-curricular activities at a public school under the “Tim Tebow bill” that passed the Kentucky House on Tuesday.

State Rep. Stan Lee, R-Lexington, said home-schooled students deserve the right to try out for spots on public school athletic squads as long as they meet academic and immunization requirements.

“Give them a chance,” Lee urged fellow House lawmakers who passed the measure on a 55-34 vote. “After all, their parents are already paying property taxes to the public school districts”.

Rep. Derrick Graham, a retired public school teachers said he fears deserving public school students might be bumped from teams as a result of the legislation if it is enacted.

School is not an 'a la carte' buffet.

I think that they also have to sign waivers holding the school harmless for any liability that exceeds the limits of the policy limits. There are a few parents who believe that they have a star player in the family so they get extremely large policy limit policies.

Public schools aren't good enough for them to attend...they don't deserve to be part of the extracurricular activities.
