1. GET REGISTERED
Get registered to vote with your current name at your current address.
It's never too late to register to vote in Maine. You can register to vote up until, and on, Election Day. And there’s no cut-off date for registering to vote in person at your town office or city hall.

If you want to register to vote by mail, the cut-off date is the close of business on the 21st day before Election Day. That date for the general election is Tuesday, October16th, 2012.

2. WHAT TO BRING
If this is your first time voting in a federal election in Maine, you may be asked
to show ID before you can vote on Election Day. Identification may include
(but is not limited to):
• A Maine driver's license
• Another valid photo ID
• A current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or other government
document that shows your current and complete name and current
address.
If you’ve previously voted in a federal election in Maine, you don’t need to
bring an ID with you to the polls.

3. VOTE!
Election Day is Tuesday, November 6th, 2012. Polls will open
between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time, depending on your
town. Contact your town clerk for your official polling place open
time and location. Polls close at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time statewide.

VOTE EARLY:
In Maine, early voting starts as soon as ballots are available (usually 30-45 days before an election) and ends on Election Day.

VOTE BY MAIL:
In Maine, absentee ballots may be requested beginning three months before Election
Day. If you want to vote by absentee ballot in the general election, you should make your request no later than Thursday, November, 1st, 2012. To be counted, voted absentee ballots must be received by the municipal clerk by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
