Related: About this forumA wave of special interest money
We knew this moment would come, Ellen. A special interest super PAC has launched almost a million dollars in ads and mail to drown out the voices of working families in this election.
With time running out before Maryland votes in this U.S. Senate primary, our only chance to keep Donna leading in the polls is to answer. To do that, we have to hit our final end of month fundraising goal by midnight March 31. There is no margin for error.
Rush a donation of $100 or more towards our final end of month fundraising goal and make sure we have the resources to answer this wave of special interest money:
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Express Donate: $100

We've struck a nerve with the special interests. Our progressive message is resonating with voters and every poll is showing we're gaining momentum, so they've gone all-in to stop us.
This is a crucial time, and what you do now will be the difference between victory and defeat. Will you step up to answer this new wave of special interest money?
Show everyone the people are not backing down in the fight for a progressive Senate. Contribute $100 or more towards our final end of month fundraising deadline.
Thanks for stepping up,
Ben Gerdes

(1,941 posts)some of Michael Bloomberg's lobbyists in Annapolis about two weeks ago. He literally walked Bloomberg's reps into a committee hearing and made the introduction for them. It was sickening.

(1,941 posts)Maryland has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. Accordingly, guns are already banned on college campuses. Maryland doesn't even allow ordinary citizens to have concealed carry permits.
So what does this law do? Well it's designed to prohibit things like NCAA rifle tournaments. Most importantly, Van Hollen is pushing it in the state senate so he can utilize it as political capital at some point in the near future. It's just a meaningless law, meant to cater to low information voters.
Hopefully, Donna Edwards wins the primary and Van Hollen's time spent in Annapolis is proven to be a waste.

(8,333 posts)and watching Van Hollen bring it up in a recent debate bothered me.
I had been torn between Edwards and Van Hollen, but wasn't going to give it further thought till a few days before the primary. However, hearing the criticisms by Mizeur and Van Hollen about Edwards' bad record in helping constituents made me sit up and take notice. So I started reading up about Edwards.
Many thanks to Van Hollen and Mizeur for helping me make a decision.
Donna will be a wonderful successor to our beloved Barbs.
