Non-political Question - Scenic Byways

Took my 90-year old mom on our annual foliage drive up Falls Road north of Baltimore. I love it because the trees are close to the road and create a canopy effect, and you almost feel like you're in the woods. The road is curvy so you only drive around 30-40 mph and there's time to look at the trees. Mom was thinking that we might try a new place and I looked into Through Hallowed Ground, but it sounded more like driving down a highway. Has anyone found a nice place in Maryland to drive through and look at the trees?

I moved to Frederick with my wife last winter to serve at Ft. Detrick. The valley has very nice color, and if you go just north of town to Gambril state park I think you would enjoy it. Then go to downtown for a nice lunch! Message me if you want more info.
