Why does Scott Brown need signatures to get on the ballot?

There have been campaigners hanging out at the local Stop & Shop gathering signatures to get Scott Brown on the fall ballot. Isn't being an incumbent sufficient?

Anyway, I brushed them off and told them I thought his alliance with Roy Blunt was reprehensible and that he could kiss female voters goodbye.

1. As the republican nominee for the Senate race, he shouldn't need signatures to be on the ballot.

As I understand it, tea party people are trying to get some Senate legislation introduced, and if they get enough signatures, they're going to give it to Brown and ask that he propose it.

4. I was under the impression he already submitted them a few weeks ago.

I assumed he wasn't still collecting them. You are correct, though, and rereading my post I can see where I went wrong.

I had intended to say that I didn't think he needed any more signatures since I thought he had already gotten the necessary ones. I also thought, (wrongly) that he was the repuke nominee, but I guess that's not decided yet either, though he is currently running unopposed the last I heard. I'll admit I haven't kept up on the Scott Brown goings on.

I dunno--I don't follow Scottie or his truck or his little barn coat. I'm focused on getting EW in that seat!

I didn't think he had needed any more, though I just googled quickly and can't see that he's done the initial turn in either. Some grumblings about a teabagger candidate running against him in a primary as well, but no one's declared yet.

Using a back room committee of party insiders to select who is running for whatever office sucks bowling balls.

Let the people decide who they want running.
