Looking for some input as to how democrats view the proposal identified as 14-1 on the August 5th 2014 primary ballot. I've read it and as best I can tell it says; " blah blah blah". Does anyone know if the Democrats have an official position?

Thanks.

"APPROVAL OR DISAPPROVAL OF AMENDATORY ACT TO REDUCE STATE USE TAX AND REPLACE WITH A LOCAL COMMUNITY STABILIZATION SHARE TO MODERNIZE THE TAX SYSTEM TO HELP SMALL BUSINESSES GROW AND CREATE JOBS"
The proposal's wording is at the link below;

I'm all for "HELP SMALL BUSINESSES GROW AND CREATE JOBS"
but I'm a little cynical of descriptive terms.

(618 posts)Heard a Jack Lessenberry commentary re. Proposal 1 on NPR, and hes clearly in favor of passage.
There is a very important proposal on the ballot Proposal 1 -- that everybody agrees voters need to pass. It has the strong support of everyone from solidly Republican Chambers of Commerce to liberals like State Senate Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer
. We need to hope that Proposal 1 passes. It would also be a good idea if the state could find someone who can write ballot language that humans are able to understand. http://michiganradio.org/post/ballot-proposal-critical-michigans-economy-most-people-wont-bother-vote-it

(7,006 posts)This was based off of a Community Meeting with our State Representative, who by the way was asked some pretty tough questions during this meeting, and further research on the proposal.
It appears the SOME Dems in the state are backing this as a "payback" for some other proposal the Governor likely signed in 2012. Our bet, the expansion of Medicaid in Michigan with the Affordable Care Act.
Only problem is Proposal 1 is a TAX SHIFT all day long to you, Middle and Lower Class Michigan Resident. All one has to do is dig not so long in the details of this Proposal and it falls FLAT on its' face.
Be VERY AWARE if one votes for this Proposal, it is changing the TAX STRUCTURE on how municipalities receive revenue from the State (i.e. Tax Revenue) in Michigan.
Either way, here is the link.
