Michigan's 1st Congressional district results

(R) Benishek won by a comfortable margin this time around compared to the last election in 2012 when he won a squeaker. But in that race, he faced off against a fellow Yooper. In 2014, he ran against (D) Cannon, a troll (a person who lives south of the Mackinac Bridge) and Yoopers tend to stick to their own even if that means that many will vote for a candidate from an opposing party. Those voters in the district south of the bridge tend to vote party line and unfortunately for Cannon, much of the southern half of the district is Republican.

IMO, for a Dem to win this seat, he or she will have to be a Yooper.
