Another raise for Lansing officials?

LANSING -- For the second time in three years, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero, City Clerk Chris Swope and all City Council members could get pay increases.

The city's Elected Officers Compensation Commission is expected to give a recommendation on whether to increase pay for the city's elected officials. The panel has until March 17 to review data and make its recommendation. If the EOCC recommends raises for any or all the officials, they automatically go into effect unless a super majority of the City Council -- six of the eight members -- votes to reject the increases.

In 2015, Bernero, Swope and council received 20% raises after City Council could muster only a 5-3 vote opposed to the increases.

The EOCC will hold its next meeting at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on the 10th floor of City Hall. Its meetings are open to the public.
