Recall petition targets Warren Mayor Fouts
The first direct and potentially impactful blow to Warren Mayor James Fouts political future has been leveled by a local resident over recorded crude remarks allegedly made by him.
Recall petition language was filed Wednesday afternoon against Fouts by Joseph Hunt. Hunt ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 2011, when he lost in the primary election. In August 2016, he lost in the Republican primary for Macomb County Public Works commissioner.
The petition targets the Warren mayor but with a typo, spelling his name as Fout without the s.
According to the recall petition wording filed with the Macomb County Clerks Office, Hunt provided this verbiage as the reason for a recall: The clear and factual conduct of the mayor of Warren during the current term of office where a recall from office is necessary: 1) Audiotapes of Fouts - verified as the Mayors voice - reference children with learning disabilities should be lined up and Kervorianed, and 2) Fouts lied he made the statement.
