Current ban on outdoor watering
I'm starting to get really peeved about the watering ban as I see it as a reflection of how in general people ignore any law, regulation, rule that they don't particularly like. Since we've been banned from watering, I have not turned my sprinkler system on once and my backyard is yellowing completely. I have relatively new sod and was diligent about following the instructions for getting it to root properly which it did. The project cost me $2000. I'm just sickened but still I obeyed the rules.
However, I see that many of my neighbors' lawns are nice and lush and I know for a fact that my next door neighbor is still watering every night. He has it set to go off during the middle of the night so the township doesn't catch him doing it. The township guy came around during the day once that I'm aware of. I'm guessing that the yards where there is no evidence of brown grass are doing the same. This is a small township and I have no problem dealing with the people in charge at the township hall. I'm half tempted to give them a heads up just asking them how they think these people can have nice lush grass after two weeks of no watering and very little rain.
It just depresses me to think that our country has become one of just a whole lot of self-centered people who just don't give a flip about the overall community and the idea that we are all in this together. I guess I was brought up with all those old-fashioned notions of you do some things for the greater good.
