I was very fortunate to meet, know, and protest with Bob Heberle.
He had no problem speaking truth to power. He gave me courage to protest. And his laughter kept my anger in check (most of the time)
He'll be greatly missed.

Bob did so much, he would reach out to Vets who were struggling with ptsd who he didn't even know. One two occasions I gave him the name and # of family of recent returned Vets who were struggling with PTSD and in one case the law also.
Bob just asked.. "do you have their # and I'll call them". It didn't matter they were in another state.
He worked hard to try and pass legislation that required more extensive DU (depleted uranium) poisoning for returning military and veterans. It finally passed by a DFL legislature removed funding for it so it didn't pass. I'm sure Bob would have tried to get it passed with funding if he had more time on earth.
Many great memories of his dedication. Another time, that I wasn't at, was a group protest on Lake Minnetonka in a pontoon boat.
They were protesting on the lake near the shore of a house that was having a fundraiser with Cheney and Bachman. When the sheriff's boat stopped the pontoon from getting closer.. Bob and Roger took the dingy raft and paddled closer. Bob and Roger both in their 70s. I'm sure Cheney saw and heard it as well as those at the fundraiser. Bob and Roger did get arrested and I went to the hearing.. the Judge chatised them.. like they were kids.. (I had a hard time keeping my mouth shut, but I did).. But that didn't bother Bob and Roger. They were given community service for their crime of protesting near someone under the protection of Secret Service. (Cheney).

and the many protests against St Thomas Law Professor and previous legal Counsel for G W Bush.
Bob graduated from St Thomas and fought to get Delahunty fired. Delahunty was mentor to John Yoo and cosigned the memo that lead to the torture memo, and St Thomas hired him anyway to teach law. Bob had known some who were torture in Central/South America, so it was very hard on him and other St. Thomas alumni that St Thomas refused to fire this war criminal. . bob and a couple others had gone to Dean of St Thomas, asking for Delahunty to be fired.. they refused so Bob kept going back but also started with others protesting at the school. Sadly, even with a different Dean, St Thomas still has professor Delahunty to teach law to the students... 'who would Jesus torture" is often what we asked the students.

On the link below, I don't know if Bob was at the protest Jan 12, 2012 but maybe he was.
I added because it is a good video on our protesting and why.

I wish i could find my pictures of the protest of the St Thomas Law School baccalauret at the Cathedral. It was just 3 of us, Bob and I had the sidedoor, right next to the steps. We were on the sidewalk so they couldn't make us leave. We stood our ground.
Bob was motivated by Edmund Burke's, "All that is needed for the triumph of evil is for good men to remain silent."
