The strib opinion page

I don't live in Minneapolis so did not follow the campaign by....35 candidates! for mayor. (They need to raise the "entry fee from $20 to $200).

But the strib endorsements last weekend were interesting:

They endorse Betsy Hodges because... she will continue the path of Rybak.

The do not like Mark Andrew because of his close ties to unions! I think that he will be the winner, unless the RCV will create havoc in the whole system.

Then Lori Sturdevant last week went after the ones still opposing THE STADIUM. Claiming that it is now a convenient campaign slogan but, once elected will change their mind.

There is only one letter reacting today, but the online comments, and there were many of them, were scathing.

Of course, I think that the strib stands to gain financially from this bargain. Perhaps already has..

I've heard that Andrew and Rybeck have a chilly relationship - so the Strib's endorsement of Hodges is essentially Rybeck's stealth endorsement. There's a lot of internal DFL politics at play. This will be interesting.
