That is the only thing I'm sad about with the Metrodome going away - losing that name.

Naming rights are a huge source of revenue now, in pretty much all sports. But even if that were still possible, no way do today's Republicans allow something to be named after a DFL icon.

(in 2009). Yes, I know the building was still technically the "Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome" but all's I ever heard and saw was "The Mall Of America Field" this and "The Mall Of America Field" that. No way to make money on just the Humphrey name.

In 2009, Mall of America purchased naming rights for the field at Metrodome. The contract stated that the field would be called "Mall of America Field at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome" for a three-year period, beginning October 5, 2009, and ending February 28, 2012.[87] (( apparently renewed after that to the present ))
Despite possible inference from the signage, the MoA name applies only to the field, not the stadium as a whole. The building remains Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.

It's gonna be some corporate name. I'm sure Target already has dibs, since they have everything else in Minneapolis.

They already have Target Center (T-wolves) and Target Field (Twinkies).

Best Buy sure isn't going to get any naming rights. I could see Medtronic or 3M maybe.

it's because they are a great team although they have their moments. My heritage is Norwegian so if I'm going to watch football it may as we'll be the Vikings.

So I didn't realize that the stadium had originally been named for Senator Humphrey until the final game this season. I almost cried that his legacy was being erased one thing at a time.

Humphery is from a older generation and Ziggy Wilf wants lots of money from a big sponsor for naming rights. The era of naming stadiums after progressive era politicians are over.
