Nine inches of fresh snow in our backyard!

I think that this is the most that we've had this season in one storm. Yes, other states were getting their foot, or two, per storm, but we managed to get our fifty something inches totals in relatively short bursts of 6" and 8".

At least we are promised 50s and 60s towards the end of the week.

Sigh.

floods and droughts, snow and droughts, I am tempted to write a letter to President Obama, to suggest a water grid across the country. It will not be easy, will take many years and money, but it could be the 21st Century equivalent of the rails of the 19th Century, and the Interstates of the 20th..

It's incredibly dry here in NM. We're not looking forward to fire season.

I wouldn't care if it snowed 9 inches here, and I'd be snowbound in the middle of a city because the city doesn't own snow plows. I'd have to wait for it to melt.

I'd take it. Tea, beans and rice would get me through a month or so.

and do not have to be anyplace early mornings.

Even with all the snow storms that hit the south, when people were told to leave early, I've often thought that they were directed at mainly office workers. Restaurants, and movie theaters had to stay open, I think, to serve the ones who rushed home early...
