15 years after Iron Range plane crash, Wellstone's legacy still felt

"Sunlight filtering through the trees at the Wellstone Memorial Park near the Eveleth Airport illuminates one of several signs put up to commemorate the life of the late Senator who died in a plane crash near the site 15 years ago."
MARK SAUER

"People still leave notes and mementos for Paul Wellstone at the quiet memorial site honoring him just off of Highway 53 near Eveleth.

They leave them for his wife Sheila too, and for the six others who died with them exactly 15 years ago today when their plane tragically crashed just miles from the Eveleth-Virginia Airport."

More should know what that meant to Sen Wellstone & how he fought against Corporate dirty deals when it came to serving as the voice of those who were powerless against the Corporate encroachment.

He IS the standard bearer of the Progressive Party.
I was one of his faithful.

I see a lot of hypocrisy in today's progressives, & many who wear that label today have no idea what Sen Wellstone was about nor who he was.
It feels like someone redefined the meaning.

Makes me sad because he was such a fair & just man of the people, & that seems to have been overlooked in carrying forward the mission of his Progressive Party.

I recall how he never gave up being the voice of the small community of Sierra Blanca.
He fought Big Corporate toxic dumping in that small west Texas minority community.
Profiteers were Out of Staters, Gov Gw Bush & his multi-millionaire business friends.

Sen Wellstone was the Only voice they had against corporate money makers. His fight in the Senate to protect them was stellar.

THAT is the Progeessive Voice.

Thanks for allowing me to speak on his behalf.
RIP Senator

October 2017 marks the 15th anniversary of the plane crash that killed Senator Paul Wellstone, his wife Sheila, his daughter Marcia, and three members of his campaign staff – Tom Lapic, Mary McEvoy, and Will McLaughlin.

"Paul asked, no indeed he demanded, that we sink roots into our communities and use our intellect to shift the power to those who had little"
