New resort, athletic facility in Osage Beach expected to grow Lake community

OSAGE BEACH — A major project that plans to bring more people to Lake Ozark year-round is the first of its kind at the Lake. Peninsula Development LLC is in the later stages of development with a new resort and athletic facility in Osage Beach.

Dan Foster, managing director of Peninsula Development LLC, said this resort will bring people to the lake during the winter dead time. The athletic facility is set to be 140,000 square feet and will feature a range of sporting events, such as basketball, cheerleading, and volleyball tournaments. According to Foster, these sporting events will bring people to the lake year-round.

He said this project idea has been in his mind for many years. His family has lived on the lake since the 1820’s and said being part of growing the community his family has been a part of for hundreds of years is “a thrill.”

“I think the more people that come here, the more people that use the existing properties here at the Lake of the Ozarks, the more attractive it’s going to be for new businesses to come in and pick up their own particular areas of skills and just move in and make a living here too,” Foster said.

We tried to schedule a vacation around a job interview in that area in the summer of 2021 and when we asked about the hotels masking policy the clerk laughed and hung up. The job was removed from consideration. I supposed if you live there, it's good for your economy but this Okie family will no longer be visiting the Ozarks. I can see all the red hats and gunslingers I need to see in Tulsa.

the Mariott, it was a disgusting free-for-all in the dining lounge and none of the four of us enjoyed our supposedly upscale dining that we were expecting. None of us ever went back (and my parents lived only 50 miles away, in Lebanon MO too, so it wasn't like we didn't know the people). It is a disgusting tourist trap.
