NEW JERSEY -- "I can't help but feel a little guilty about getting through such a 'covid' year," says Adrienne Collier, editor-in-chief of Your HHRS News, the New Jersey health, medical, fitness and nutrition news blog.

"It wasn't quite as stressful for me because Covid never cut me off from being able to do my job. Quite the opposite -- I had to work that much harder to find and post the the most accurate and unbiased information about how to deal with the pandemic. And Covid certainly didn't get in the way of finding candidates for this year's Jersey-Est Awards!"

A trio of local athletes lead the list of 2020's winners. Woman Of The Year is South Brunswick educator Keri Mandell, who ran in seven marathons on seven continents in seven days to help raise $150,000 for the American Cancer Society DetermiNation Endurance Series. And an eight-year-old shares Man Of The Year honors: When Chase Falcone of Verona learned that both he and Colonia High School wrestler John Poznanski had the rare eye ailment Coats' Disease, he took up wrestling himself, and the two of them got to meet up at one of John's competitions.

Honorable Mention is shared by Eddie Lin of Edison and Christopher "C.J." Zweig of Tinton Falls, who turned their autism diagnoses into a balloon art business and an Internet radio broadcasting gig respectively. "It's important to highlight successful adults with autism because you don't eventually outgrow it like baby teeth or acne," Ms. Collier explains.

"There's plenty more Jersey-Est awards where those came from -- at https://yourhhrsnews.com/review-2020," adds Ms. Collier. "And if you have anything you'd like to contact YourHHRSnews.com about, just go to our contact page -- we'll be happy to help you get the news out!"
