N.J. mayor says he's boycotting Oreos after Nabisco plant closure leads to 600 lost jobs

The mayor of Fair Lawn is looking for a new favorite cookie to dunk in milk.

During a Facebook Live session last week, one listener told Mayor Kurt Peluso they thought the town should boycott Nabisco, the maker of Oreos, after its parent company, Mondelez International, announced it would be shutting down its 63-year-old Nabisco plant in Fair Lawn and laying off hundreds of workers.

“I’m with you,” Peluso responded. “I‘m not going to be eating any Oreos or anything from Nabisco anytime soon. I think the way in which they handled this was extremely inappropriate and just absolutely disgusting.”

The plant, a landmark in the borough since 1958, produces baked goods under the Nabisco brand, including staples such as Oreo, Lorna Doone and Teddy Grahams, with the sweet aroma a familiar scent for residents. Its doors will shut in late August or early September, and as many as 600 people could lose their jobs as a result, Peluso said earlier this month.

Constitution. That was by referendum..... in November. The legislature and governor can't get their shit together to pass the framework for legalization. So about 2,000 people per month are arrested for Mj.

The ones being arrested are not being prosecuted, just arrested.

Our political leaders can fuck up a wet dream..... and they do.

My sister and I would wake up in the back seat as we drove past and the cookie smell woke us up. I miss ginger snaps and vanilla wafers.
