Christie in retreat after rare rebuke by Legislature

But there's an ethics law in NJ that prevents him from profiting from sales of such a book until he leaves office (January, 2018). Now nothing's stopping him from writing that book. He's probably got a ghostwriter working on the project as I type. But he won't be able to sign a contract for publishing it and going on CNN, The Today Show, GMA, FOX, etc. as well as go on a book tour without the NJ Legislature making an exception for him alone, to allow him to make money while he's still in office.
It looked like the vote was a lock on Monday morning. Monday afternoon, not so much.
