Dem Progressive Caucus Push IDC Reunion Resolution

State of Politics

The Progressive Caucus of the state Democratic Party plans to push a resolution at this month’s party meeting that would urge the Independent Democratic Conference to return to the mainline Democratic conference.

An email sent to Democratic committee members from Progressive Caucus Chairwoman Rachel Lavine offers them a chance to sign on to the resolution, saying it will be voted on as the Democratic convention, due to be held May 21-22 in Melville, takes place.

The resolution comes as Gov. Andrew Cuomo faces skepticism from the left-wing of the party’s base, as well as the labor-supported Working Families Party, which has not ruled out granting its line to another candidate for governor this year.
