Domino Sugar housing development gets OK from City Council

A massive apartment complex to rise on the site of Brooklyn’s Domino Sugar factory got the final green light from the City Council Wednesday.

The project will include 2200 apartments - 700 of them affordable - in towers as high as as 55 stories along the Williamsburg waterfront, along with stores and park space.

Developer Two Trees agreed to up the number of affordable apartments by 40 after the de Blasio administration threatened to scuttle the project, and the mayor now points to the hard-ball negotiation as a model for his citywide affordable housing plan.
