New Yorkers Willing To Pay Higher Taxes For Better Roads, Bridges: Poll

WILDER FLEMING

A new City & State Reports poll to be released soon found that roughly 42 percent of New Yorkers think the state’s roads, bridges, and mass transit systems are in “poor” shape, and 48 and 41 percent said they would be willing to pay higher taxes to improve roads and bridges, respectively. The statewide poll from City & State Reports, an affiliate of City & State magazine, is based on a statewide sample of 602 registered voters.

The findings come in advance of a speech to be delivered today by President Barack Obama in view of the Tappan Zee Bridge, in which he will reportedly urge congressional support for his plan to increase federal spending on bridges and other infrastructure projects around the country.
