Casino team looking at local sites

Albany

One casino operator hoping to compete for a project in the Capital Region is attracted to Rensselaer, East Greenbush and Albany sites and may enter into a deal soon.

"We hope to make a final decision whether to proceed, and if so in which community, within the next couple of days," said Eric Schippers, a senior vice president with Penn National Gaming.

After listening to people speak on a proposed $300 million casino project for nearly two hours Wednesday night, the Town Board set a June 4 hearing on whether to approve the Thompson Hill Road site.
