DEC extends comment period on Port of Albany oil transport proposal

By Richard Moody

The state Department of Environmental Conservation extended the public comment period for a controversial business expansion at the Port of Albany.

Due to "broad public and community interest" in the issue, the DEC extended the comment period on Global Companies LLC's permit request to extend oil heating operations at the Port of Albany until August 1.

In late January Global applied to have their Air Title Five Facility permit modified to allow them to heat petroleum products including crude oil at the Port of Albany. Heating the petroleum products makes them easier to transfer from one place to another.

They seem to care more about the oil companies than the people. hrmjustin May 2014 #2

Where is New Windsor's chance for public comment. Global wants to shove it 90 miles south of Albany to its facilities here.. DEC once again mindlessly approves and BACKPEDAL's.
