Sheldon Silver's earnings from Weitz & Luxenberg jumped by at least $200,000 in 2013

GLENN BLAIN, KEN LOVETT

Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s still-shrouded work for the law firm Weitz & Luxenberg became far more lucrative for the powerful Manhattan Democrat in 2013.

According to financial disclosure statements made public Wednesday, Silver earned between $650,000 and $750,000 from the law firm in 2013. A year ago, Silver reported earning between $350,000 and $450,000.

Silver spokesman Michael Whyland did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the surge in income from the law firm.

Silver has never detailed the kind of work he does for the Manhattan firm. His financial disclosure statement lists only that he’s “of counsel” to the firm. It also states that he’s involved in the “general practice of law with emphasis on representation of individual clients and personal injury actions and ‘of counsel’ to law firm.
