Zephyr Teachout: Goal is 45,000 petition signatures

Zephyr Teachout says she’s already collected 25,000 signatures to challenge Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a Democratic primary in September and plans to get up to 45,000 before the petitioning process ends July 10.

Teachout presserTeachout will need 15,000 valid signatures to make it on to the Sept. 9 ballot.

The Fordham University law professor said she’s certain that Cuomo will use his team of lawyers and campaign staff to pour over her petition signatures to try to get her thrown off the ballot.
