MTA and LIRR unions to meet again Monday

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The next meeting between the MTA and unions representing Long Island Rail Road workers is scheduled for Monday.

As negotiations continue in an effort to avert an LIRR strike, the MTA has released a commuter contingency plan.

However, it seems that some progress between the two sides is being made.

The chairman of the MTA, Thomas Prendergast, sat down at the bargaining table Thursday, talking face to face with the union negotiator for the first time.
