Central New York mayor repudiates offensive gay comments

Charley Hannagan

Solvay, NY--Solvay's village board meeting Tuesday slipped into garbage, pickles and offensive comments about a gay man made by a village employee on a private Facebook page.

The dispute started last week with heated comments between Solvay resident Ty Marshal and David Bosco, a village electric department employee and deputy fire chief in the fire department. Their dispute was sparked by a discussion about the village's trash hauler were made on a private Facebook page.

During the dispute Bosco made a reference to Marshal "smooching pickles" on the Facebook page. He later took the comment down.

"Ty, you clearly took what I said way out of context. I was simply referring to politics. I do not have a problem with yours or anyone else's preferences," Bosco said on the Facebook page.
