NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A man participating in the New York City Triathlon was revived after suffering an apparent heart attack in the Hudson River on Sunday morning, authorities told WCBS 880.

FDNY Lt. Ted Carstensen said that the incident happened around 8 a.m. off West 79th Street. Halfway through the event’s swim portion, a lifeguard noticed one of the racers in trouble, WCBS 880’s Jim Smith reported.

The triathlete was treated on an FDNY medical boat before being transported to Mount Sinai-St. Luke’s Hospital, authorities said.
