City launches ad campaign to promote HPV vaccinations for kids

ERIN DURKIN

The city Health Department launched a new ad campaign urging parents to get their kids vaccinated against HPV.

HPV - the most common of all sexually transmitted infections - can lead to cervical and other types of cancer, as well as genital warts.

Only 40% of girls and 22% of boys ages 13-17 have gotten all three doses of the vaccine, and 47% of boys and 64% of girls have gotten any doses, lagging well behind vaccination rates for other diseases, officials say.
