National Democrats are poised to dump nearly $1 million in negative ads on Rep. Michael Grimm, a sign that the congressman could hang onto his seat despite a 20-count indictment against him.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Tuesday will launch one week of television advertisements worth about $104,000, sources said. That is part of a $950,000 ad blitz the campaign committee has reserved over the next two months.
A spokesman for the committee declined to comment Monday on the ads. But the DCCC is all but sure to highlight Grimm's indictment on tax fraud charges related to a Upper East Side restaurant he ran prior to his 2010 election to Congress.
