Saying New York City has a long history of "peaceful protests," Mayor de Blasio on Thursday called the heavy law enforcement response in Ferguson, Mo. "troubling" - and said he couldn't picture a similar situation here.
De Blasio said he wasn't an "expert" on the situation in the Midwestern community - where hundreds of people have gathered to protest the police shooting of an unarmed black teen - but that "we have a very different reality here."

On 9th Ave now. The police have barricaded the street.
