In an about face, Dem group dumps Hochul, endorses Wu

The Village Independent Democrats club withdrew its endorsement of Kathy Hochul for lieutenant governor Thursday night and instead threw its support behind insurgent candidate Tim Wu.

The group, a local Democratic club in Manhattan, switched its endorsement because Wu had not yet officially announced his candidacy when the group initially backed Hochul, who is Governor Andrew Cuomo's running mate, a member said.

Hochul is more conservative than Cuomo.
