Bill would require DOH alert doctors about their opiate prescribing habits

By RICHARD MOODY

In a continued effort to combat the increasing opiate addiction epidemic in New York an assemblywoman plans to introduce new legislation meant to help doctors curb the number of opiate prescriptions they write each year.

Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther, a member of the Committee on Health, will be introducing legislation that would require the state Department of Health to notify doctors each year on the number of opiate prescriptions they wrote as well as their ranking within the county where they practice.

there are Dr's dispensing opiates out there faster then Pez dispensers. Rx monitoring has been in place for several years.

because they all seem unaware that unmedicated chronic pain is fatal.

That's where a lot of drug phobic nurses are concentrated because most drugs have an adverse effect on newborn babies.

There was also a period where opiate phobia was taught in nursing and medical schools.

That doesn't make it right. Chronic pain kills. And legislators are unqualified to practice medicine, especially when they don't know what the hell they're talking about.

its a way to track the proliferation of opaites by physicians. Apparently you didn't read the entire posting it is directing the Dept of Health to track how much these physicians dispense. Its been a good indication of Doctor Shopping. It designed to expose them for what they are.
