Teachout begins bus tour, targets Cuomo tax breaks

Conor Skelding

Zephyr Teachout began her "whistleblower" bus tour at an early-morning press conference in Midtown, outside a development that benefited from state tax breaks.

"We're starting here today, before One57, because it is a monument to the corruption of Governor Andrew Cuomo's Albany," she said outside the building on West 57th Street, alongside six supporters holding Teachout-Wu signs.

Last year the governor signed legislation granting tax breaks to the development, shortly after entities associated with building's developer, Extell, donated $100,000 to his campaign. Those tax breaks were the subject of a Moreland Commission subpoena.

A penthouse in the building sold for more than $90 million in 2012.
