De Blasio zeroes in on expanding living wage

By Dana Rubinstein and Sally Goldenberg

During his first State of the City address, Mayor Bill de Blasio said that by the end of February, he would expand New York City's living wage law to include more workers on city-subsidized projects.

Six months later, de Blasio is close to achieving his goal.

Multiple sources told Capital that within the next few weeks, de Blasio is expected to unveil an executive order that will increase the number of people who qualify for what's known as a "living wage."

One knowledgable administration source and two sources familiar with the city's plan said de Blasio is finalizing details on an executive order that would expand the law to include some retail tenants of city-subsidized developers. It will also require more small businesses to comply with the law.
