Judge delays Grimm trial, denies ‘speculation’
Colby Hamilton
Judge Pamela Chen dismissed an argument on Tuesday from Michael Grimms attorneys that the Republican congressman was targeted for his party affiliation, but granted a request to push his trial into the new year.
Chen denied a request for discovery from Grimm's attorneys, saying their arguments that he was being selectively prosecuted failed the basic litmus test for proving such a claim.
Chen noted that the U.S. attorneys offices in the eastern and southern districts regularly pursue charges against Democratic politicians.

I live in this district and can tell you it will be very close. Those who said Grimm could not win because he was indicted did not know what they were talking about. Not their fault because in most areas an indictment means the end of your political career but nit here.
From what I can see the local gop wants him gone but are willing to vote for him so that he can resign at a later date so that a special election could be held. They have several politicians ready to run if he resigns. But they won't be sorry to see him lose either because several gopers don't think the Democratic candidate Recchia is strong at all.
I think Democrats in this district are ready to go and vote so Recchia might pull this off but Recchia has not been a great candidate. Also if he does get elected I doubt he will be a bastion of progressive politics.
Stay turned to as the NY11 turns.
