I can't believe that Michael Grimm might actually be re-elected!

Well actually I can.

Recchia the Democratic candidate turned out not only to be a dud but also is a complete idiot. He can't even answer a question in a debate. Why they forced this guy who does not even live in the distict on us I do not know. I must stress the point that his debate performance was horrific. I have done and will do more this weekend phonebanking for him but I think this will not happen. He is more likable in person but his command of the issues leaves a lot to be desired.

My guess is that Grimm will win and sometime in this next term he will step down. A special election will commence. Hopefully the dems will pick someone who lives in the district.

I hate to sound gloomy but I needed to vent.

She's managed to keep most of her shit out of local news lately so she will be reelected. Her opponent is the son of a former governor, which makes him a dynastic candidate and people view him as a hack.

I do think we will retain Senator Udall and Rep Lujan-Grisham, so it's not all grim. I just wish my fellow citizens were a little more aware of the Texas Teabagger.

and involved in City politics for a long time.
How could he blow a near sure-thing like election against an indicted felon?

The local Dems and Recchia didn't think he could lose and did not prepare themselves for a real race.

Let's face it teapublicans like this stuff, shows leadership, especially if you get away with it.

It has been somewhat amazing to see how some of the most embattled members of Congress have overcome their liabilities. Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) overcame a very, very public affair to win election to the House in 2013. Rep. Vance McAllister (R-La.) was caught kissing an aide, dropped out of his reelection bid, changed his mind, and still leads by six points (according to one poll, anyway). And on Tuesday, the local news station NY1 in New York City reported that Rep. Michael Grimm (R-N.Y.), indicted earlier this year on tax evasion charges, leads his Democratic challenger by four.

9. Recchia does live in CD-11

Granted, he lives at the very end of CD-11 and when the lines were changed after the 2010 census his home was included in CD-11 (gee, I wonder how that happened). Unfortunately, he is the WORST candidate for this office.

Recchia only got the nomination because "I can raise money" and the DCCC couldn't get any of the politicans on SI to run. There are politicans here on the Brooklyn side of the district that would have done better or equal to him but Recchia was determinded to run (he wanted to run in 2008 but his friend Mike McMahon jumped in when Fossella's problems surfaced even though before that he had no intention of running becaused he "didn't want to lose to Fossella). We had a good candidate named Steve Harrison but when McMahon jumped in and being a SI resident (Steve lives on the Brooklyn side of the district) the SIDP abandoned Steve and nominated McMahon. The only problem with Harrison, he wasn't good at fundraising.

Recchia should have studied WORLD events and been prepared for questions like what is the TPP, etc. I think he believed that he could have just shown up and get the financial contributions and with Grimm's problems win. Too bad he needed to work for it, and if this is a blown election the DCCC(who I don't donate to for reasons like this) won't be spending any (or much) money on a special election if Grimm is found guilty and forced to resign. This is what the RCCC is hoping, and looks like this wet dreams are being answered.

And it also looks like Elise Stefanik is winning in my current district. WaPo said that it was 99-1 against Aaron Woolf in NY-21. Geez!!! Not to mention that Chris Gibson - who I worked against when he ran in my district the last time - is slated to win over Democrat Sean Eldridge. Sean is terrific, but he's only 28 and in a same sex marriage, which I imagine is working against him in a conservative area. So I sure can empathize. Dammit all to hell!!!

Except, maybe, to the attack ads they're forced to watch on TV, which, as you know, are wildly inaccurate. And yet, in my experience, if you're making GOTV calls to educate voters, they almost never want to talk to you. Except for the occasional senior citizen who feels stringly about some issue...

But in your district, they must know Michael Grimm is in trouble...
