Police Investigate Transgendered Woman's Death In Possible Hate Crime

Police are investigating a possible hate crime that they say led to the death of a transgendered woman.

Police say the incident happened Saturday night at around 11 p.m. near 148th Street and Eighth Avenue in Harlem.

Police say 21-year-old Islan Nettles, who they say also goes by the names Vaughn Nettles and Alon Nettles, was out with a friend, another transgendered woman, when they met a group of boys.

According to police, the argument took place after the group realized that they were transgender females.
